My favorite thing about writing is how the entire process–from initial idea, through research, drafts, and edits, to submission–is like exploring. Sometimes it seems easy, like a stroll on a level, scenic path on a sunny day, and other times it can be like laboring up a boulder-strewn trail in an ice storm. Usually, it falls somewhere between those extremes.
What keeps me writing is the sense of discovery, similar to what I experience when I venture out, whether to a faraway place or somewhere close to home. The act of taking a journey parallels the act of writing a story, essay or article.
